TONY ALLEN – CHAIRMAN (Seat 1)

Commissioner Allen was elected to the Board in 2012, and was re-elected in 2016.

Commissioner Allen was elected Chairman in November of 2015, and again in November 2018.

 

The #1 reason why Tony Allen ran for the District Board was to ensure tax dollars were spent properly and that the departments were not micro-managed.

Prior to Moving to the Keys

Tony lived in Pensacola, where he was involved in the funeral business. He worked for a large firm of funeral homes and cemeteries in Pensacola, FL for five years.     Tony was actively involved in the Jaycees for over ten years and held various club offices, including President and Vice President.  Tony served in the United States Marine Corps and was medically discharged. He has been an active member of American Legion for over 15 years.

In 2010, Tony and Jacqui moved to the Keys because they wanted to live in a small, close-knit community, and together they own and operate their family-owned business.

Professional Life & Affiliations

He graduated from Bradford County High School in Starke, FL in 1998, and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service with an A. S. in 2003. He completed his National Board, served a one year internship at Jones Funeral Home in Starke, FL, passed his State Examination Board and received his Florida Funeral Director and Embalmer license. He also received his Bachelor in Business Management from American International University in 2005. Tony and Jacqui Allen own Allen-Beyer Funeral Home in Key Largo. His family includes four “fur children”, two cats Pixie and Gary, and two dogs Paris and Simon.

Community Activities

Tony has become actively involved in our community. He is a member of the Key Largo Rotary; Past Treasurer and Membership Chair of Sons & Daughters of Italy (4 years); member and Past Vice President of the Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center (2 years), he resigned when he was elected to the KLFR&EMS Board; a life member of American Legion Post #333. And is a life member of the Florida Keys Gator Club.

Tony is a Mariners Hospital Founder’s Society member, a member of the Young Philanthropists of Baptist Hospital, and Elks member. You can see him smiling when he talks about participating in the Sons & Daughters of Italy Guinness Book of World Records Bocce event, where they set a world record for 24 hours and 29 minutes of continuous Bocce tournament playing!
